Historical reenactments by Roman army legionnaires

featured in Events calendar Updated

The Theatre Antique welcomes back this happy band of legionnaires, who will show spectators how Roman soldiers used to dress, fight, how they lived and even explain what perfumes they used to use.

A Roman encampment will be reconstructed on the stage of the Roman Theatre to learn about the life of the legionaries on campaign, and all the civil and military professions linked to the life of the encampment. There will also be a reenactment of a ceremony of imperial cult at the heart of the Roman encampment, during which the priests of the cult give a ceremony in honour of Emperor Augustus.

It's a great event for families to come to and kids can get involved in workshops with the soldiers whilst they're here.

Family passes and reduced rates are available. For ticket prices visit the website via the link above, or buy on the door when you arrive.
