Alfie Earl, the young cyclist who rode the Col du Tournalet at 8 years old has come back this year and ridden Mont Ventoux and the Passo del Stelvio within 48 hours of eachother.

Alfie and his dad Steve set out from Bedoin on 22nd October and reached the top of Mont Ventoux around 4 hours later. The 21.5km ride from Bedoin is no mean feat with some sections reaching over 10% gradient.

He told Cycling Weekly “The forest was the worst bit and it went on for ages, when I got to the summit I realised I hadn’t actually changed onto my lowest gear but at least it was good training for the Stelvio.” which he then rode on 24th October.

Alfie turned 9 in August and it's believed that he may now be the youngest person to have ever completed the ascent of the Stelvio.

His next ambition is to ride from London to Paris with his sister, but he's apparently going to be taking a short break from the bike first. With his age not even in double digits yet, Alfie looks like he's got a great cycling future ahead of him.
