"Insane" Mont Ventoux cycling challenge for charity

British doctor to attempt all 3 ascents in 1 day

British doctor Guru Singh is going to be cycling Mont Ventoux on the longest day of the year, not just once but three times in one day.

The 68 year old doctor is taking on the challenge to raise money for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance, so that more lives can hopefully be saved by rapid intervention. The service is funded entirely by donations.

This will be the second time he's taken on a big cycling challenge for charity, having ridden from Geneva to Milan in 2015 when he raised £15,000 for Hope Against Cancer.

This year's challenge is going to be the toughest yet. Climbing Mont Ventoux can take around two hours for good amateurs, so riding it three times in one day is going to be incredibly tough, especially in the heat of summer. He plans on riding it on the longest day of the year, June 24th 2017 from Sault, Bedoin and Malaucene

Singh says on his Just Giving page “to do the ride once is a feat and twice a challenge, but to do it three times, especially at my age, in a single day is insane!”

We wish him all the best for this incredibly tough challenge.
