Splashworld going down the drain?

France's biggest waterpark goes into receivership

The future of Splashworld, France's largest waterpark, is looking shaky today after its holding company has apparently been placed in receivership, according to La Provence newspaper.

The waterpark is due to open on 3rd June 2017 for its second summer season, however the company that operates it has apparently defaulted on two large payments of over €183,000 each.

Despite the park attracting around 280,000 visitors in the last 18 months and receiving an investment from a Turkish company they still, allegedly, have large outstanding debts from 2015 and 2016.

Tickets to the park don't come cheap, with a family of 2 adults and 3 children paying 105 euros for the day, which some visitors have commented is far too expensive already. Others say that they expected the park to fail with prices being this high and the weather playing a heavy part as to when the park is able to open.

The company are currently fighting the decision to put them in to receivership and will be still hoping to open on 3rd June.
