Summer Continues in Provence

Warm weather, easy travel & a busy cultural calendar in the early autumn

September does not spell the end of things to see and do in Provence, if anything it's a great time to seee the sights and catch some culture. Fewer holidaymakers, cooler temperatures, cheaper prices and still plenty of things on the cultural calendar!

With a stable forecast of clear blue skies and warm temperatures in Provence, September is off to a great start. So if you're yet to see the Palais des Papes in Avignon, the Maison Carré in Nimes, the hill-top villages in the Luberon then it's not too late to catch the sights and feel some summer sun.
Furthermore if you plan a short break away over the following dates (and hurry last direct Eurostar service to Avignon is first weekend in September), you'll have the added bonus of catching some of these events:

  • Les Luminessences d'Avignon, a spectacular 3D light & sound show on the Palais des Papes, until the 11th of October
  • Les Rencontres d'Arles, a photography festival held in Arles with over 50 exhibitions, until the 21st of September
  • Feria du Riz The grand finale of the bull fighting season is held in Arles on the 12th to the 14th September 
  • European Heritage Days Museums, churches, and galleries all open their doors to the public for the weekend 20th & 21st September 
  • Klimt & Vienne a Century of Gold & Colours, Gustav Klimt works are displayed in the monumental Carrières de Lumières, until the end of the year
