Château de Tourreau stands out as one of, if not the most, beautiful châteaux in Provence.

The château's estate lies in 17 acres of woodland, formal gardens, streams and orchards. Originally built in 1612, the château was remodelled in 1760 and in the grounds there is a swimming pool, summer kitchen, tennis court, basketball court and pools filled with Koi carp.

Today it is a luxury hotel, with all the amenities you would expect. It's also available to hire as a wedding venue or for parties.

Comprising of three reception rooms, a formal dining room, family kitchen, breakfast room, internal courtyard with fountains and outdoor dining, one guest suite on the ground floor, two guest suites on first floor accessed via their own staircase and six ensuite guest bedrooms on the 2nd floor.

3. Chateau Gigognan B&B, Sorgues

Chateau Gigonan is located in the Cotes du Rhone wine region, not far from Chateauneuf du Pape. The estate was formed in the 17th century, and is now a full functioning organic vineyard.

There are five classically styled bedrooms available and breakfast is served on the terrace or in the library. The rooms feature TV, wifi and air conditioning.

There is a lovely outdoor swimming pool and tours of the vineyard can be arranged.

4. La Bastide de Voulonne Hotel, Gordes

In the heart of Luberon close to the lovely village of Gordes is a wonderful converted farmhouse called La Bastide de Voulonne. An 18th century building, it has been lovingly restored to provide very pretty Provencal accommodation. The 13 rooms are decorated in soft colours with French country furnishings. each room features a large bed, flat screen TV and en suite facilities. Dinner is served on a wonderful canopied terrace and uses fresh organic ingredients from the market. Within the 5 acre estate is a heated swimming pool, ideal for whiling the days away. The Bastide offers very well priced rooms and family suites.

5. Le Hameau des Baux Hotel, Le Paradou

This hotel is a collection of old farm buildings that have been coverted into 20 rooms and suites, offering luxurious accommodation close to the historic town of Les Baux.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, decorated in cream hues and utilising wooden furniture.

With only five (spacious) rooms, this small chateau has a great deal of character and offers wonderful views over the Vaucluse. The restaurant serves dinner and features Provencal cuisine and local wines. The castle has terraced gardens and there is a swimming pool with loungers that provides the same great views over the Rhone valley.
