Uzes Cathedral
Otherwise known as the Cathédrale Saint-Théodorit d'Uzès
Formerly a Roman Catholic cathedral it is now a protestant church in the centre of the town of Uzes.
The original cathedral was destroyed in early 13th century, rebuilt and then destroyed once again in the 16th century during the Wars of Religion. After yet another rebuild in the 17th century it was then stripped of any interior features during the French Revolution.
The Romanesque tower that reaches to the skies is probably the most famous structure in Uzes and is often used as an iconic image for the town. The church was listed as a French Historical Monument in 1862.
You can visit for free outside of services and organise a guided tour through the tourist office if you prefer.
