The theatre company itself was formed in 1982 and became a permanent resident in Rue des Dyers, in the old cobblestone streets in the heart of Avignon.

A former factory the theatre took a lot of determination to convert it into a working theatre where performance could not only come to life but also be presented to an eager public. Since then they have welcomed may local, national and foreign performances of dance, music, drama and contemporary creations. 1999 saw the birth of their sister venue Le Petit Chien just around the corner.
