Traditional Christmas festival in the city of Aix en Provence
The famous 'bravado calendale' the offering of 'La Pompe de Noel' to the authorities of the city.
La Pompe de Noel is a type of brioche that is traditionally made in Provence during the festive period. recipes are often handed down through the generations. As Christmas approaches you will find them in bakeries and in many homes across the various cities, towns and villages.
During this festival you will find plenty of people dressed in the Provencal traditional attire, a fair few 'chivau-frus' (people dressed as dancing horses!), flag throwers, not to mention the presence of folk groups from Nice, Brignoles, Plan de Cuques and Aix.
Rally at 11am, at the town hall and the bravado takes place at 14:30 on the Cours Mirabeau.
