Eco Musee, Breil-sur-Roya

Exhibition of vintage trains, trams & buses

featured in Sights & sites

Museum charting the history of transport in the area, with lots of old vehicles to look at. Located in an old rail warehouse in Breil.

Founded in 1989 to showcase the history and heritage of the Roya valley, it became a museum museum focused mostly on industrial heritage in 1991. It now houses exhibits of hydropower and transportation.

The collection comprises lots of interesting locomotives, railcars, trams, postal vans and other vintage vehicles.

Visitor comments

  • "Great for train fans (and old trams and buses). The museum contains 141 lots of more modern diesel electrics all of which as it's a small museum you can climb on and in which is very rare these days. On the first floor there is a rather excellent HO scale reproduction of the Ventimiglia to Breil line which is powered up during the visit (sadly only for 10 minutes). The trip has an excellent guide in French and can in conjuction with the little museum at Piellon St Thecle and the scenic triangle of line give railway fans a super day out. Thouroughly recommended but check opening hours last time it opened at 1500 not 1400 as marked." - Trip Advisor
