Eurostar Launches New Direct London to Marseille Route
St Pancras to Marseille in 6.5 hours, via Lyon & Avignon
Eurostar are launching and trialling a new route today (1st May 2015) which will allow passengers to travel the 1239km distance from London to Marseille in under 7 hours.
The train will stop at Lyon and Avignon, before heading on to Marseille.
On the return journey the train will also stop at Lille Europe for passport checks as there aren't any immigration facilities in Marseille. This means disemabarking and changing onto another train an hour later.
Eurostar have been running a very popular service to Avignon for a number of years now, and are hoping this new route takes off, giving passengers an alternative to flying.
The new route will operate year round and return tickets will start from €111. Eurostar will also start to operate their new fleet of trains this year too (see images above).
