Stage 12 of this years Tour de France is an epic leg of 185km culminating with the climb up the legendary Mont Ventoux.

On the morning of 14th July 2016, the peleton will set out from Montpellier at around 11:55 and are expected to arrive at Mont Ventoux between 15:20 and 16:50.

This notorious climb at the end of the stage lasts for nearly 21 kilometres, with 1610 metres of ascent and with a slope of around 7.5% on average.

Once they have left the cool shade of the woods, past Chalet Renard, the elements will really start to affect the riders on their punishing race to the finish line as they will be exposed to the sun and the wind and a 10% climb to the summit.

Le Tour de France 2016 starts on 2nd July and finishes in Paris on 24th July.
