A huge wildfire swept across land between Ventabren and Aix en Provence yesterday, destroying around 150 hectares of land.

200 firefighters were called in to tackle the blaze, as well as air support which dropped water on the affected area.

Fanned by a westerly wind, the fire quickly spread towards Saint-Pons, but thankfully the police and fire crews were quick to alert and stop passing motorists from getting into danger.

Train traffic was also affected as the fire was very close to the TGV line and local home owners looked on in amazement. Thankfully no-one needed evacuating.

The fire was finally put out at around 5pm yesterday evening.
