Chateau la Nerthe Vineyard, Chateauneuf du Pape

Large single piece organic vineyard with 13 appelations planted

featured in Vineyards & estates Updated

This vineyard has been certified organic since 1998 and grow 13 different varieties of grape in one large 98 hectare vineyard.

The majority of the vineyard is spectacularly rocky for some of the high terraces in this area and consists of marl and clayey sand strewn with pebbles in the gently sloping portion coming down the hill.

Their entire production falls under the AOC Chateauneuf du Pape and the main wines produced here are 'Chateau de la Nerthe' in red and white.

The chateau is open by appointment for wine tastings, however they don't appear to turn people away that arrive adhoc.

  • "The trip alone is worth a visit for the grounds! It is beautiful and we were amazed by the beautiful scenery. We had a tasting which we booked day of and was very lucky to get in. A full wine tour would have been spectacular but we did not plan enough in advance." - Trip Advisor
  • "Upon the recommendation of relatives, we visited Le Château la Nerthe. The tour was a high point and worth paying for it. Enjoyed the excellent wine and bought some. " - Trip Advisor
  • "We heard that they are the oldest one and we decided to visit. Very special and relaxing place with nice hospitality. We had a short wine tasting and bought a bottle of 2006. Next time we would like to visit detailed by appointment." - Trip Advisor
