Well-equipped camp site in an excellent location for sight-seeing
Located in the heart of the medieval town of Avignon, this camp site has plenty to see and do within easy reach.
The camp site sits on the bridge called “Pont d’Avignon”, on a narrow strip of land in the middle of the river Rhone, known as the island of the Barthelasse. Facing the Popes' Palace, it has fantastic views of the surrounding area and the city is easy to reach via a free shuttle boat that takes you directly to downtown Avignon.
Surrounded by green woodland, the camp site is in a peaceful spot, surrounded by nature. You can choose to pitch your own tent, or stay in one of the site's "canvas bungalows"; there is also the option of static mobile homes.
The camp site has good facilities including restaurant, bar, outdoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sunbathing terrace, tennis courts, volley ball, table tennis, petanque and children's playground. There is organised entertainment during the peak holiday periods of July and August. You can also rental bikes to explore the local area.
The camp site also offers WiFi, tv room, grocery shop serving fresh bread and pastries, laundry with washing machines, dryer, and irons, baby equipment (on request).
The campsite is in a calm and tranquil spot, on a wooded island in the middle of the river Rhone. Despite being so secluded, it is very easy to get to the heart of the medieval city of Avignon via a free shuttle boat.
The campsite has a large outdoor swimming pool, with jacuzzi and sunbathing terrace. It is open from May to September (10am-8pm).
The campsite is directly north of the centre of Avignon, on the island that lies in the centre of the river. It takes 5 minutes to reach by car, or about 20 minutes on foot.
From Marseilles you drive approximately 1 hour north along the A7, to reach Avignon. If you are coming from Montpellier it takes just over an hour driving north west along the A9.
The camp site is very family-friendly and during July and August there is a kids club twice a week from 10am to midday where children can join in games and workshops.

Just across the Rhône river from Avignon, Villeneuve les Avignon offers a quieter place to base yourself but still be only a stone's throw from Avignon.
Châteauneuf du Pape lies in the heart of the Vaucluse region, 19km to the north of Avignon and 10km south of Orange. It is of course, most famous for the wine it produces, but the village itself is also worth a trip, with its pretty medieval lanes and ruined castle.
Caumont sur Durance lies midway between Avignon and Cavaillon on a small plain near the Durance river.
Velleron is a small town with around 3,000 inhabitants and can be found around 25km to the east of Avignon, not far from Isle sur la Sorgue.
Nestled in the hills of Les Alpilles, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is a stylish town much favoured by the creative Parisien set. Its centre is full of narrow medieval alleyways, with fountains and shady squares and wonderful buildings.
This small village in the Vaucluse is literally in the centre of things when it comes to wine growing. It has no less than 14 estates and vineyards in its vicinity, producing wines under the Vacqueyras and Côtes du Rhône labels.
