1. Le Couvent des Minimes Hotel & Spa, Mane

A partnership between those in charge at l’Occitane (natural beauty products) and professionals working in the hotel and spa sectors.

It features a 46 room hotel, restaurant and L'Occitane Spa. The spa uses products derived from the local Provence countryside - verbena, lavender, honey - in it's treatments. Rooms are decorated in neutral shades with solid oak furniture. It is open to hotel guests as well as to non-residents.

The hotel grounds include an aromatic garden, outdoor swimming pool, tennis court and a lovely boules court. A place to come for true relaxation and regeneration.

2. Abbaye de la Celle Hotel, La Celle

This traditional country inn is run by the Alain Ducasse empire, and offers 10 bedrooms & suites in an 18th century building in the heart of Provence's vineyards.

The property is nestled amoung vineyards and is adjoined to a 12th Century Benedictine abbey. The gourmet restaurant with it's Michelin star in the main attraction.

All the bedrooms are large and spacious with en-suite bathrooms. The in-room services include flat screen satellite TV, DVD player (on request), CD player, radio, safe, hair-dryer, mini-bar and free wifi. Some of the rooms come with their own private terrace.

The hotel also has an outdoor heated swimming pool and a picturesque shaded terrace where you can enjoy your meals or a glass of wine.

Bicycles and picnic baskets are available to guests who want to roam the local country-side at their leisure.

4. Chateau de Trigance Hotel, Verdon

6. Château de Tourreau, Sarrians

Château de Tourreau stands out as one of, if not the most, beautiful châteaux in Provence.

The château's estate lies in 17 acres of woodland, formal gardens, streams and orchards. Originally built in 1612, the château was remodelled in 1760 and in the grounds there is a swimming pool, summer kitchen, tennis court, basketball court and pools filled with Koi carp.

Today it is a luxury hotel, with all the amenities you would expect. It's also available to hire as a wedding venue or for parties.

Comprising of three reception rooms, a formal dining room, family kitchen, breakfast room, internal courtyard with fountains and outdoor dining, one guest suite on the ground floor, two guest suites on first floor accessed via their own staircase and six ensuite guest bedrooms on the 2nd floor.

7. Chateau de Nans Hotel, Nans les Pins

A pretty, turreted, fairytale castle that has been turned from an old family home into a small hotel with 10 bedrooms. Located in peaceful surroundings, it provides an ideal escape from the hustle of the Riviera (not far away).

The rooms are decorated in a traditional style with French country beds and furnishings. Outside, you have a swimming pool, a petanque ground and pretty gardens.

The restaurant is run by a pupil of Alain Ducasse and offers modern Provencal cuisine.

Based in the Var countryside, Chateau Mentone is a guesthouse with five bedrooms in the chateau, and guest suites and apartments in some of the surrounding buildings ideally suited to families and groups.

9. Chateau Gigognan B&B, Sorgues

Chateau Gigonan is located in the Cotes du Rhone wine region, not far from Chateauneuf du Pape. The estate was formed in the 17th century, and is now a full functioning organic vineyard.

There are five classically styled bedrooms available and breakfast is served on the terrace or in the library. The rooms feature TV, wifi and air conditioning.

There is a lovely outdoor swimming pool and tours of the vineyard can be arranged.

10. La Bastide de Voulonne Hotel, Gordes

In the heart of Luberon close to the lovely village of Gordes is a wonderful converted farmhouse called La Bastide de Voulonne. An 18th century building, it has been lovingly restored to provide very pretty Provencal accommodation. The 13 rooms are decorated in soft colours with French country furnishings. each room features a large bed, flat screen TV and en suite facilities. Dinner is served on a wonderful canopied terrace and uses fresh organic ingredients from the market. Within the 5 acre estate is a heated swimming pool, ideal for whiling the days away. The Bastide offers very well priced rooms and family suites.

The rooms are very unique and sympathetic to their traditional style, with antique furniture, and soft furnishings paired with modern touches for convenience.

The 'Orangerie' is where guests take breakfast, but the whole castle can also be hired for events and weddings or conferences.

With only five (spacious) rooms, this small chateau has a great deal of character and offers wonderful views over the Vaucluse. The restaurant serves dinner and features Provencal cuisine and local wines. An excellently priced option located deep in the countryside of Provence. This is a beautifully decorated hotel, with a lovely swimming pool and a highly regarded restaurant. The rooms feature neutral colours, Provencal furniture, flat screen TV and wifi - some also have private terraces.
