Chateau full of character surrounded by world famous vineyards
Chateau de Massillan is a small luxury hotel with a gourmet restaurant located in Uchaux.
The 16th century castle was once a hunting lodge for Henry II and now provides 12 bedrooms for visitors to the Vaucluse area. Each bedroom features a mix of antique and contemporary furniture, luxury linens and spacious bathrooms.
The restaurant has an excellent reputation and provides French cuisine and an extensive wine list - no surprise as you are in the heart of Cote du Rhone wine region!
With extensive gardens, terraces and a swimming pool, the Chateau de Massillan is a superb luxury rural retreat.
A small picturesque village which is close to the town of Orange, just 8km to the south, or Seguret which is 18km away.
Situated in a courtyard surrounded by greenery, making it a little bit of a tranquil oasis. There are plenty of sun-loungers available for everyone.
Drinks are available throughout the hotel's grounds.
It has an excellent reputation and provides French cuisine and an extensive wine list - no surprise as you are in the heart of Cote du Rhone wine region!
It is open every day except Monday for lunch and dinner (between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.).
As such a popular venue, we strongly advise making reservations where possible.
By Air:
The closest airport is Avignon (40 minutes) alternatively there is Marseille (an hour and 15 minutes), Montpellier (an hour and 20 minutes) and Nîmes (an hour).
By Car:
The hotel is close to both Orange and Avignon, 10 minutes from the A7. Take exit 19 (Bollène) and follow signs to Nyons and Vaison-la-Romaine. When the D12 to Uchaux appers on your right, follow this for 10km, after which you’ll arrive in Farjon; turn right at the church, and the hotel is a kilometre down the straight road.
By Train:
The closest train station is at Bollène-la-Croisière, which has direct links to Avignon and Marseille. It’s eight kilometres from the hotel.
Children of all ages are welcome. Rooms 10, 19 and 23 can accommodate an extra bed for €60 per night. Cots are available as well as children's bedding.
Well behaved children are welcome in the restaurant but there is no kids menu available, but the chefs are happy to prepare an omelette, mix up a purée or serve smaller portions of the main menu.
There is plenty for the children to do from playing in the pool (no lifeguard) to playing hide and seek in the huge gardens, finding and swinging on the hidden swings and feeding the ducks on the lake.
However, if you want a bit of time to yourself on your holiday, babysitting is available for €10 per hour.

This small restaurant is on the Rue Peyrollerie, a winding alley just off the Place St Pierre. It is a great option for vegetarians, offering a wide variety of cheese dishes and salads but there are also fish dishes available.

This small bar has a nice seating area outside next to one of Aix's many fountains and it catches the sun late into the evening.

Another medieval town that is dominated by its castle, Suze la Rousse is full of charming cobbled streets and ancient stone buildings.
Driving from Lyon south on the Autoroute A7 towards Provence, you may notice the signs for Orange, the first major town in the region.
Best known for its 12th century bridge with 19 arches, Pont St Esprit sits by the Rhône as it starts its journey through Provence.
