These sweets are made from a paste of candied fruits, normally oranges and melons, topped with a thin layer of royal icing.

The are typically lozenge shaped and although their texture is a little like marzipan they actually taste more like melon.

They are produced in Aix en Provence but popular the world over, and can be bought in many different forms, flavours and colours.

Take a trip to the place they're made near Aix centre and you can even have a go at making your own!
