Antigone de Sophocle at the Pont du Gard

Greek tragedy performance at the famous aqueduct

featured in Events Calendar Updated

This performance takes place at the Pont du Gard, the incredibly well preserved Roman aqueduct not far from Nimes.

The simple and beautiful story takes place in the city of Thebes. Antigone, a young princess, daughter of Oedipus, has lost her two brothers, who have killed each other for the throne. His uncle Creon, who had become king, forbade the death of the two who had rebelled. Antigone will pass this law, and will have to face its destiny.

The doors open at 19:45 and it's free to attend, although you do need to call them to reserve.

Don't forget to bring something to sit on and a torch to find your way back to the car park at the end.
