'Merci Alfred' is a website for the discerning Parisian who wants to keep track of what's happening and what's not, in the party scene in Paris. Twice a week they email you with details of clandestine bars, secret parties, the coolest restaurants, the sunniest terraces and everything else you could possibly need to make sure you don't miss out!

However, this website have done their sums and analysed the numbers to work out which city in France is the 'coolest' place to be. This survey has nothing to do with green spaces and good transport but is purely based on the restaurants, bars, cinemas, museums and theatres for all cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants.

Aix-en-Provence was inside the top twenty in most of the sections. Coming in at number six for the numbers of inhabitants per restaurant, and number five for the number of museums, proving that along with good Provencal style food there is also plenty to do and keep you entertained in this wonderful city!

When all the ratings were averaged out, Aix-en-Provence comes in at number nine! Behind cities like Bordeaux, Paris and Lyon. We have a city to be proud of in Aix, make sure that you get out there and enjoy it!
