Bumper Crops of Cherries Expected this Season in Provence

Lots of Spring sunshine means large crops are expected

Thanks to a relatively sunny spring and start to summer so far, cherry farms in Venasque are expecting bumper crops.

The Venasque region produces around one fifth of all the cherries in France from around 60 growers, and they're reporting that the trees are already laden with fruit, says Connexion France.

The cherry season is pretty short, as the fruit is picked as soon as it's ripe and they don't tend to keep long afterwards.

The season will finish in mid July, so if you're a fan of cherries you'll be in for a treat as there will be more than normal available!
