Easy family friendly circular route from Chateauneuf du Pape
This 28.5km long route is a journey of discovery through the Ile de l'Oiselay and the vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape.
The route is well signposted and suitable for all the family, travelling through the city of Sorgues, town of Berarrides and the undulating hillsides, plains and vineyards of the area.
You can find a map of the route at the tourist information offices of Chateauneuf du Pape and Courthezon, which gives detailed instructions of the route in case you loose the sign posts at any point.
Traditionally this route starts and ends at the car park of Ile de l'Oiselay, but depending on transport and where you are staying, it is possible to join the route at any point and complete the circular.
There are a couple of things to look out for when you pass through Sorgues (not to be confused with the town of L'Isle sur la Sorgue, which lies to the south east); firstly the home of Louis XVI which is a beautifully preserved building, and also the heritage trails in the heart of the Old City.
Chateauneuf du Pape lies in the heart of the Vaucluse region and is most famous for the wine it produces. Passing through the area offers the perfect opportunity to try some of the local wines and visit the vineyards. Making your cycling trip into a vineyard tour!
