The village of Richerenches is well known for its production of truffles and this event marks the start of the truffle season, taking place on the first Saturday after 15th November each year.

Le Ban des Truffes is a celebration of all things truffle, with people in ceremonial gowns and large black hats parading through the streets as well as a market where you can see plenty of the culinary black gold.

Demonstrations by truffle hunting dogs and the all important lunch follow the ceremonies.

It's free to come and see the festival and weekly truffle markets also take place here every Saturday morning from this date right through until mid-late March.
