A unique art-themed boutique bed and breakfast hotel
A 12th century mansion, close to the historic centre of Isle sur la Sorgue, with Renaissance facades and plenty of character. Abandoned for many years, it has recently been extensively renovated and given a new lease of live as this quirky and stylish hotel.
Modern comforts and contemporary artwork combine with original features, spiral stone staircases and wrought iron gates. The hotel is crammed full of artwork and designer furniture by Arne Jacobsen, Charles Eames, Philippe Stark, Saarinen, Yanagi, Serge Mouille, Thor Larsen, Thierry Laudren, and so on.
The building is topped with a fantastic terrace that looks out over the city and beyond to the mountains. You are invited to join your hosts for an evening aperitif on the terrace to watch the sunset over the mountains. Breakfast can be enjoyed either inside or on the rooftop terrace and consists of a hot drink, freshly squeezed fruit juice, a seasonal fruit basket, regional cheeses, and pastries.
The hotel also has an indoor swimming pool and a spa, with a Jacuzzi on the terrace. At the heart of the building is a secluded courtyard, tiled in stone and surrounded by vegetation and aromatic plants with a century-old olive throne in the middle.
Guest rooms are spacious and creatively designed, each one themed around an artist - Max B, Mondrian, Cézanne, Vasarely and Prével. All the rooms are ensuite and benefit from WiFi, flat screen TV, safe, mini bar, kettle and air conditioning. The hotel is non-smoking throughout.
The guest house is tucked amongst the narrow backstreets of the village in a quiet residential area, just a few minutes walk from Place d'Eglise, a charming square with cafés, shops and the tourist office. It is also a very short walk to the where you might see wild ducks, brown trout, rainbow trout sky, common trout and perch.
Guests are welcome to make use of the heated indoor pool and rooftop jacuzzi. Like the rest of the building, the pool is artistically decorated in a lavish style. It measures 9m x 3m and has an artificial current.
The guest house is 40km north east of Avignon via the D901, or 70km north of Marseille airport via the A7.
